FAQs

Who is Soloma for?

Single mothers navigating housing alone. Whether you're starting to think about a move, own a home you'd consider sharing, or want to explore co-renting as an option.

Is this for divorced, widowed, or never married mothers specifically?

All of the above. If you're raising children alone for any reason,
Soloma is for you.

Is this open to mothers outside the US?
Right now, our resources are US-based. We're building with a global community in mind and plan to expand as we grow. Let us know where you're located when you join, so we can plan ahead.

How is this different from finding a place via Facebook group or WhatsApp?
Those groups rely on you finding the right person, in the right location, at the right time on your own.
We do the matching work first: speaking with each person directly , checking references, and aligning on values and needs, and only making an introduction when we think it could genuinely work. Your job becomes deciding if it's a fit, not searching for a needle in a haystack..

What does co-renting actually look like day-to-day?
Typically, two single-mom families share a larger home or apartment, each with their own bedroom(s) for themselves, their kids, and a shared common spaces, costs, and sometimes childcare. We'll walk you through different models (shared lease, sublease, etc.) once you're matched, so you can choose what fits.

I'm not ready to talk to anyone yet. Can I just observe?
Yes. Joining the waitlist doesn't commit you to anything beyond being open to a future conversation. We'll share resources either way, whether or not you ever co-rent.

Will there be a cost?
Joining the waitlist is free, always.
Once matching begins, we expect a small fee (around $1) to join the matching pool, and a larger fee (around $50) at the point of a confirmed match, a signal of commitment from both families. We're refining these numbers with our founding members, but cost will never be the reason someone can't access support here.

What if I join and change my mind?
Nothing. No pressure, no follow-up guilt. You can unsubscribe whenever you want.

When does it launch?

We're building now and matching begins as our community grows. Joining the waitlist now puts you in the priority pool, and helps us shape Soloma into a powerful resource through your feedback.

OUR STORY

Hi, my name is Baroosh and I'm a single mom of two.

As the only parent, I've done the math on a two-bedroom at midnight, renewed the lease on a place too small for the right school district, and stretched a month further than it was meant to go because there wasn't an alternative. All while stress-laughing into the void and wishing another single mama would fall out and help.

I know there are others that feel the same, so I'm setting out to search and build with moms who take on the brunt of carrying a family forward, finding themselves in a housing market that's impossible to navigate on a single income.

Right now, we are a small, founding circle of single mothers shaping what Soloma becomes. If that sounds like your kind of room to be, come find us first.

—Love, Baroosh

BEFORE YOU COMMIT
We know sharing a home and a lease with another family is a big step,
so we want to be upfront about the practical side.

Understand what you're signing
Before any lease is signed, we'll walk you through your co-tenancy options (like joint lease, primary tenant + roommate agreement, or separate leases), along with a starter guide for splitting expenses and coordinating childcare, so you're working from a shared starting point vs. a blank space.

Take your time

An introduction is just the start. You'll have space to get to know each other through conversations and meet ups so you're choosing each other with confidence, not crossing your fingers. If it's not the right fit, there's no pressure and no penalty. You'll simply stay open to a new introduction when you're ready.

How your household runs day-to-day is yours to shape. But we'll provide you helpful resources at match so you're not figuring things out out in a vacuum.

Personally reviewed, every time.

Every applicant has a short conversation with our team and at least one reference check before joining the matching pool. Anyone you're matched with has been directly spoken to.

Shared with care, never sold.

We never sell or share your information with advertisers or third parties. Within Soloma, your full profile is only visible to your matched family once you've both expressed interest. Before that, potential matches see a limited summary, enough to gauge fit, not your full story.

Real humans make the call.

We may use tools to help narrow down potential matches, but every introduction is personally reviewed and approved by our team before it happens. No algorithm decides who you're matched with

SAFETY & PRIVACY
Nothing about you is visible publicaly.

HOW IT WORKS
Simple, guided, and built around you.

Step 1:
Join the waitlist
We're building our directory now. Joining lets us reach you with practical next steps and shapes the matching process around real needs, including yours.

Step 2:
Tell us about yourself

A short questionnaire about your situation, your must-haves (location, budget, school district, schedule),
and what you're looking for in a co-home family.

Step 3:
Get matched

Every submission is personally reviewed, and we verify identity in addition to alignment in values, routines, and needs before making introduction . When we make an introduction, it's because we believe it could work.

Step 4:
Meet, decide, move at your pace

We facilitate the first conversation and walk you through practical starting points for structuring your shared lease, expences, and childcare. From there, it's your call, on your timeline.

THE IDEA
Housing is the biggest line item in a single mom's budget.
Splitting it changes everything.

Soloma pairs you with another single-mother family looking for the same thing: a home that's too expensive alone, and too good to pass up together. Two incomes, two sets of hands, one household, kids raised in a fuller, livelier home, and a co-parent-shaped gap that finally has someone standing in it.

We're building this with the women it's for. If you're a single mother navigating a housing market that wasn't designed for one income, come find us first.

Soloma matches single-mom families to share a home, splitting rent, splitting childcare,
and splitting the load. You keep your room, your routine, your independence.
You gain a built-in village.
